Carry Handle Applicator (PROGRIP)
The Carry Handle Applicator (PROGRIP) applies self-adhesive carry handles to multipacks at up to 150 cycles per minute per lane – and detects deviations before they lead to downtime or damage.

Your production comes first
The automatic Carry Handle Applicator (PROGRIP) combines high throughput with controlled processes, clear operation and the flexibility to meet new requirements. Each team sees a different benefit – from the same machine.
A carry handle applicator applies self-adhesive carry handles to multipacks, making them convenient for customers to carry.
High throughput, controlled stops and fewer unplanned consequences when something goes wrong.
Settings that are easy to follow and repeatable changeovers between products.
Good access and monitoring functions that stop the machine before damage occurs.
A solution for different formats, line speeds and future products.
The Carry Handle Applicator (PROGRIP) principle
Watch the application star apply the carry handle to a passing 3 × 2 multipack while the products continue to move steadily.
Smooth product flow, easy access and fewer moving assemblies make life easier for production and maintenance teams. The application mechanism moves to the product.
Process protection
The line keeps running, even when not every pack arrives perfectly positioned. The Carry Handle Applicator (PROGRIP) checks the critical steps before applying the carry handle.
01
With defined spacing and a correctly coordinated metering conveyor (infeed conveyor).
02
Rotated packs, excessive pack length and insufficient spacing are detected.
03
Precise positioning at high throughput, matched to the product format.
04
Handle and application checks support a stable outfeed.
From real production
A rotated pack, a closing gap or a dirty sensor should not lead to machine damage. That is why the Carry Handle Applicator (PROGRIP) monitors orientation, spacing and transit time before handle application.
The 3 × 2 pack travels with its long side facing forwards: three bottles side by side and two rows behind one another. The conveyor arrangement creates consistent product spacing of approximately 1:2.

If products transfer too quickly and close the gap, the sensor detects the insufficient spacing. The machine stops before the application star enters the gap and a collision can occur.

The pack has rotated during transport and now travels with its narrow side facing forwards. This makes it approximately one bottle diameter longer in the direction of travel. The incorrect orientation is detected and the machine stops before the application star can strike the third row of bottles.

After initial detection, the pack must activate the sensor on the application finger within a defined time. If the signal does not arrive, automatic operation stops, preventing following packs from running into the application star.
Everyday format changeovers
A new pack format? The matching settings are already shown on screen. Transfer the values to the position indicators on the machine – and return to the same settings the next time you change formats.
Less searching. Clear steps. Confidence at every changeover.

Turn the handwheels until the readings match.
The complete application unit is adjusted vertically. This positions the centre of rotation of the star to suit the pack height. The distance to the top of the product also determines the size of the carry handle loop.
The application units are aligned with the product centres and the existing lane pitch. On the X version, the centre-to-centre spacing of the application heads is adjustable.
The settings from the selected product are transferred to the mechanical adjustments in a clear, repeatable way. The finger only needs changing when the carry handle length changes.

Format flexibility
New products should open up new opportunities – without automatically requiring new carry handles, extensive modifications or additional stock.
